ND did not beat Stanford. That game is still in OT. Oregon is much better.

Really? The same Oregon that gave up over 22 points a game to some pretty crappy teams, including 34 to Arkansas State, and a whopping 51 to a down (this year) USC!

The same Oregon team that gave up 600 yards of offense to USC? They would have scored, but might have given up even more points.

That's the problem. You guys root for 14 teams.

It's ridiculous and this is why people can't stand the SEC. It's like rooting for the Western conference in the NBA or the AL or the NFC.

Really, that's the reason? It's not because your team of choice can't compete for national championships?

Toasty I see you are in here... What do you think about your all star front seven now? Tell us about that conversation with Scott Hunter again!

They can't stand the SEC because of the 7 straight titles, a completely unprecedented streak. the whining about pro-SEC bias combined with the streak has led to the rooting-for-the-conference stuff.

If another conference ever manages to come close to that streak, you'll see the same thing.

Except on the rare occasions they face a strong defense.

SEC people see it the opposite....

we see a whole country that's pulling against us, like the OP or you, and we circle the wagons. oh sure, when we play each other, we are for our team, but when it's US vs. the world....with their sissy no-defense sort of....well i guess you have to call it FOOTBALL, for lack of another, more appropriate term, well then, we naturally pull for the SEC team. (of course, i am excluding the rednecks....never be for them under ANY circumstances).

why don't you just bow down and kiss our...our...well, our feet, because if you don't start to play some defense, you are likely to come up short whenever you play one of our real powerhouses.

My team's D was ranked only behind Alabama's.

The ACC has as many teams ranked in the top 20 in D as the SEC. And more in the top 25.

I'm merely playing devil's advocate. The team I root for plays D-first, pro-offense football. I have said multiple times Bama would win this game. Some of the SEC homers take umbrage because I also like seeing fun games and find the SEC's fans...aggravating at times. Alabama, UF and LSU, congrats you guys are great teams.

UGA, Vandy, USC, Kentucky, Mizzou, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miss. State, Arkansas-Rooting for the 3 truly important teams in your conference makes you guys look sad.

you're missing the point....

it's not JUST playing good defense....it's WHO you play good defense against.

ND got where they were by playing a nothing schedule....bring YOUR team down south and go through that SEC meatgrider and then let's talk.

it's easy to have good stats when you play a junk schedule like the PAC 10 (or 12 or whatever they call themselves this week), the ACC or the Big 10 (or whatever).

you are confusing gaudy statistics with actually HAVING a good defense.

ps-edit- as Notre Dame found out to to their delight tonight
