Our amazing planet

Sign in to disble this ad
I just came across some cool photos online of natural phenomena and unique geological sites, so I thought I'd create a thread where hopefully we can share some of these places that others may not have been aware of. It's really incredible how beautiful our planet is.

Here's the Horsetail Firefall at Yosemite

more info here : http://www.yosemitepark.com/horsetail-fall.aspx

Here's the "Door to Hell" (been posted before, but it's damned cool)

More info and photos here: http://www.jabulela.com/travel-places/visit-hell-door

"Danxia Landform"

more info here: http://www.absolutechinatours.com/ne...-rain-118.html

Hopefully you guys can share some other cool stuff, such as photos of cool places, man made or natural - or photos of places that the average person will never see. Even just really great nature photographs of plants, animals, landscapes, etc.

I'll post of some nice shots of Australia when I get a chance, but for now, I'll start with my backyard Click to open the image and then click it again for full size. The pic is HUUUGE.

edit(jt) yeah, it is huge, over 5 megabytes. it was also loading every time the thread opened, so i removed the img tags.

Salar de Uyuni in Bolvia. It's a salt flat that when covered in rainwater provides a striking mirror effect against the sky.

Sorry for the low quality pic

Just a beautiful farm landscape here in Southern Indiana. My favorite place in the world. Everything is just so relaxed. Everyone is friendly, and nature just speaks to you. No noisy roads or anything. The only noise that ever gets loud is 4-wheelers, or loud southern rock being jammed in the garages.

It's on the central coast of California. Not much around there.

Wow! Some truly excellent images. Doesn't matter if it was with your phone. The scenery is still breath taking.

Some photos taken about 3 blocks from my house in La Jolla.
