lol, thats the auto fill in feature...
In word it will try and guess the word you are about to type (usually if its a name in your address, book, your address, the name of your company...something it thinks you will type often)
In your browser (the thing that you use to go on the web), it fills in user names and passwords that it already knows.
These features are designed to save you time, Both can be turned off/modified in the preferences:
For Internet Explorer - Tools>Internet Options>Content>Auto Complete
For word- I'm not sure maybe someone else knows the menu
In either event if you just keep typing the box will go away once what you are typing no longer matches what you have typed in the past. |

may not be necessary but when did you last clean install your hard drive?
your computer will benefit if you clean install every year or so, especially if you use it on the net, you don't know what you might be picking up.... |

If it's going backwards, it not autofill or anything
The answer to every computer question is not a reinstall...

This happens all the time - people spend days trying to solve software glitches, delete trojans, wondering why their PC is running slowly - when they could just spend 6 hours or so wiping the hard drive and reinstall the OS and software. |

To MM: I haven't heard of anything acting up like that, it could be something as simple as a stuck tab key or a problem with the mouse/touchpad. Probably needs to be looked at by a pro..

If so, you may be touching the pad with your thumb causing the cursor (aka flashing bar thing ) to move while you type. This happened to me. |

| I went for a job as hardware / software support software person.
They said during the interview that the standard answer to an enquiry on a Sunday is to restart the system whilst during the week they would suggest more complex methods presumably to justify their existence. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
