Ok. Why is it, my cell phone can browse the net, send a million texts in 30 seconds, accept photos via text, have 80 songs on it's drive, BUT DOES NOT GET RECEPTION!!! What the hell is wrong with these people. They have developed a computer that I can carry along in the car, but can't make a fricken phone that makes or recieves calls.... COME ON ALL READY!!!! My daughter was in an accident and the hospital calls kept getting dropped on my cell. I was outside for god sake.
I called my provider and asked for a phone that gets reception..... They did not know how to answer me.

Is it the phone, or the area?

Either way, yeah, it's a pain. If you were at home or work, could you not have used a land line?

I am midway between Chicago and Milwaukee. Can't be the area. OMG!!! Make a phone that gets good to excellent reception.

Ive had my phone for almost two years and have only had a handful of dropped calls at most.

I have sprint. The phone is a LG. After about 25 minutes on the phone with them, they are sending a new replacement phone. Who knows, I am just really tired of this non-reception.

If I'm ever on my mobile at work I need to stand either at the door on in a corner by the windows!

Sprint is notorious for call dropping, regardless of the phone used. Roommates used to go through them, but ended up switching to verizon. Due to dropping calls. I use t-mobile and the only time i can't make/receive calls is if I'm in an area without a tower (boonies). Phones have come a long way over the years, but if the provider isn't good the best phone in existence won't help.

Hope your daughter gets well soon. Personally I'd be looking for a new provider after an incident like this. LG phones aren't the greatest things on the planet, either. But I'd have to say that it's most likely the provider, given their track history.

I live in the hometown of sprint, and there are dropped calls while driving all the time, which is why I got Tmobile. Sprint is HORRIBLE about dropped calls. Also, they're notorious for getting texts hours or even days after they're sent.

Also, isn't it irritating that frequent dropped calls isn't a "breech of contract" on their part. Isn't it their job to maintain your phone calls? good luck getting out of your 62 year contract.

To be fair, I live right on a cliff over the ocean, so the reception naturally isn't very good.

I usually get no service period if I'm downstairs, but if I go upstairs, there are a lot of windows and such, and I'm closer to the street, so I can get a bar or two if I'm lucky.

The other problem is that my iPhone seems to have trouble picking up my WiFi when I turn it on, unless I pretty much stand in front of the stairs and turn the WiFi on and off repeatedly until it detects my network, then it will connect and be fine.

coverage varies in different parts of the country.

I've used AT&T and Sprint, and traveling across the US, I've had consistently better reception with Sprint.

YMMV.

Yep.

Sprint/Nextel is about the worst when it comes to dropped calls and poor reception.

If it weren't for the absolutely ludicrous deal I get on my sprint account, I'd be using someone else... but everyone else is at least 2x what I'm paying.
