I have never seen a collector try to collect a debt via email before. Is that even legal to discuss money owed via email?

I was wondering about that too- just googled it though and it appears as though it is legal. Anyway, way to ruin the fun

It's legal, but they prefer to use phone calls and snail mail instead of emails for other reasons. Mostly because it's more likely to be taken seriously by the recipient and this results in higher rates of compliance.

The spelling also suggests a UK background. Things may be different on that side of the pond.

I actually know a guy who paid an outstanding parking ticket with a painting for the lobby of the city courthouse. Of course, he's a famous artist here in town.
