Here on TalkBass, there seem to be a number of terms that are used on a frequent basis. So much so, that surely some of them qualify as being overused.
"hands down" - someone in the middle of a discussion about which amp is better, which bass is best, etc., invariably will utter their opinion with this attached to the beginning or the end; I've yet to see it offered in conjunction with an opinion that was hands down conclusive
"like new" (also see "never gigged") - much like the car that the little old lady only drove to church on Sunday, it seems that a majority of gear sold in the classifieds section never actually has been used; apparently many people buy equipment for the sole purpose of hanging on to it for a while and then selling it
