Pain in my hand

So guys i just got back from the doctors after getting pain in my right hand knuckles for the past 2 months. Now the doctor thinks i have inflammation on a nerve in my elbow and has given me 400mg of ibuprofen to take 3 times a day but didn't really give me any advice. Now i know you guys must have had something similar so i am looking to you for help. Would it help for me to wear a elbow support? should i stop playing bass? (not really feasible as i just started lessons, plus it doesn't hurt when i play)
