Paintball?

Alright so a valve went on my paintball gun. We replaced it but when my dad was taking it apart he took out the velocity screw. So when I went paintballing with the guys I just adjusted mine to how fast their guns were going. My question is how can I judge the 300fps? I don't live near a range so I can't get ti tested on a machine.

Honestly, without a chrono the best thing you can do is compare it to a chrono'ed gun over long distance. Shoot at the same time, and play with it until your paint arrives about the same time.

And learn to fix your own gun

yea, or do what joathan said to do.... Depending on how fast you want the gun to go, you will have to do a little math. Nothing to hard though.

Handheld field chrono.. available at most paintball stores for about $80. Guarantees you and your friends are shooting at safe velocities. Well worth the investment. You can also get one used from someone leaving the game permanently for about $50. Isn't fun to see someone quit playing, but their loss is your gain so to speak.

My roommate is going to quit playing, and I'll probably end up buying some of his stuff.... one of those items is definitely going to be the chrono. Just too useful.

chrono is the only way, comparing distance will not work, there are too many variables, gun type, barrel, paint, etc. get a chrono

Just get a friend to shoot, if it draws blood, turn it down.

I dont have $80 so this is the method I used. We turned it down low and shot at me and went up until it actually breaks at a distance of about 30 feet.
