PARENTS!!! ARGH!!

Sign in to disble this ad
well heres the deal i have my own money (from christmas, oddjobs birthdays etc.) and when i even present them with the idea of adding a P bass to my collection (of 2) basses they flip out. They dont understand the concept of different tools for different jobs. Ana im 14 and i get tht u respect ur parents but i dont see the big deal. sorry just kind of ranting but it bothers me. (im a good student and im not a bad kid just like to add)

At 14 your musical jobs are unlikely to require three different kinds of tools. Just wait till your a bit older become a lawyer and you can be the next tombowuls

I had 4 basses when I was 17, so I don't much see the problems, especially if it's your money. Of course, I'm bad with money.

Might as well just save the money and play on the two basses you already have...

pretty much the same here. my parents didn't care though, by 17 i had already been playing around 7 years, so they knew i'd stick with it.

Meh. Just save up. I'm only 3 (almost 4) years older than you and from saving the past few years and working, I've saved up enough to buy most custom basses. And.. I'm not gonna. I love the instrument more than I did at your age, and I'll still spend money on little gear (maybe some pedals, fixing up my first bass etc) but I don't feel compelled to spend 2 grand or more on a single instrument cause as kids we don't need to. Not that your P-bass would cost 2 grand, but you get what I'm saying.

Worst case scenario, buy your current gear to sell something new. If you don't want something enough to sell your current bass then you don't NEED it right now, so you can wait.

Second good laugh of the day.

I have this vision that one day there'll be an earthquake and tombowlus will be trapped under his cabs like Skinner in that Simpsons episode where he's trapped under the newspapers.

There's bass lessons, bass amp expansion, effects pedals, recording gear, etc. Lots of ways to spend money on bass gear without buying another bass. I've done all of the above, including more basses (and guitars) except for the lessons (although I did buy bass instructional DVDs).
