Put them on drugs, they obviously don't fit in to the busy lifestyle of todays parents and should be put on some kind of mood enhancer to be chemically altered into parental acceptance.

Edit: On a side note, Major you have successfully gotten a Bob the Builder ad to pop up at the top of this thread. Good job.

Given I don't have a child, my response would be:

"I didn't know you were born!"

I'm not a parent, but I would tell them to just wait until they conjure the wisdom that no matter how much they are po'ed, it's better than being dead, and that this experience will help them appreciate the good times they will have later on, or even the not so bad times .

N.B. I take into accound mm's at what point is life not worth living thread and make exceptions for some of those.

What he said.^

The responds to "I wish I were never born" would have to be some kind of an "open ended question" in order to find out why it was said. I think the responds to why it was said would be more tricky.

Was it said because of low self esteem or did he/she simply have an embarrassing situation that day?

I'd think a backhand would suffice.

My kids have it too good to say something like that. Besides if they did, they know I would beat them with a waffle iron chord.
