lowsound | well yeah, that's the same here. whenever i'd buy something online i'd always clear it with them first, in that case then yeah, i'd let them use it, but if it was just to have them go to a store and get whatever then no

My parents trusted me (and I didn't abuse it)
I'll trust my future kids and know they won't abuse it because I'll give them a proper training in finances so they will know why they shouldn't use it superfluously

| | Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to... | | Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Huntington Beach, California. | | | My parents used to trust me with it. But since i've become more and more addicted to my hobbies (Tarantulas, fish, scorpions, centipedes, lizards, snakes, basses, fishing, amps, sound recording, bonsai and other crap) they changed their outlook.
I manage my money very well, I never overspend, but I do go far out on my hobbies, and I rotate what im spending all my time on.
Although, for school i've sold off 4 of my aquariums, some Tarantulas, all my Scorps, and all my pede's, some fishing gear as well, so now they kinda are starting to realize im not completely obsessed with my hobbies (meaning they come first).
But now, I don't need their cards. I guess its been a roller coaster of sorts.

The only thing they worry about is me losing it.

her logic is this: if i do any spending that she doesn't know about, her and i both know that i am a dead man walking.

Show your kid your credit card bill.
Explain to them, that every purchase, EVERY purchase, shows up on this list, who it was bought from, when, how much. Then explain to them, it is impossible for them to sneak something by you, because they send you the evidence. And the evidence cannot be hidden by grabbing the mail before you do, because the evidence is also on the internet, with password protection.
Then explain to them, if they truly need to use your credit card, for important reasons or for items they actually have the cash for, they're free to use it. But if they screw up EVEN ONCE.... |

Maybe when she's older. We'll have to see how she behaves.

My parents' had a card in my name and one in my sister's when we were in high school and lived at home. They would usually give it to us if we were going into Edmonton with friends when there were no other adults going just in case something happened (to the car or something). We never used it, but I guess it gave my parents' some sort of peace of mind. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
