Paypal Account?

Sign in to disble this ad
It's been so long since I setup my paypal account and i can't remember if a person can do that and get it setup instantly or whether or not there is a waiting period for approval. A friend of mine wants to setup an account and asked me about it. Anyone?

IIRC you can set up immediately using a credit or debit card. Linking a checking or savings account is what takes time.

+1 on fact that what takes time is getting your checking account "verified", etc. I have bought from them but this is the first time I will sell on the site. I had to update and get my sellers agreement done. PayPal is good but at times they can be a real pain. Still in this age we live in they are easy for small instant purchases or buying.

Send money to an email address and they will be given the option to create a paypal address and receive the money.

Linking to a bank account takes time, as they will transfer a small amount, less than 5 cents, to you account, and you need to type the number back to them to confirm its your account. Linking to a CC however is instant afaik.

I've been leery about setting up an account online that uses any of my banking account numbers. Is paypal safe? At one time you use to be able to use money orders to purchase stuff on Ebay. But now everything is Paypal.

I still don't have mine linked to a CC, it seems much safer linked to a bank account if you ask me.

If they try to take money out for any reason that I don't authorise, it takes at least two days. In that time I can go into my bank and tell them to cancel it, freeze my account, or even take the money out in cash so they can't get it.

If its linked to a credit card, they get the money straight up, and you have to try and get it back. Fat chance of that ever happening.

You can hook your debit card to your paypal? I was not aware of that, thanks.

That's what I have is a paypal debit card. If i need to move any funds from the paypal to my bank account I can but it takes 2-3 business days. I also have a Paypal credit card as well.

As far as security, I've never heard of any problems with paypal. Of course, they get their 2% cut, but the service and security is worth the 2% for me.
