Paypal fee-free transfers. anyone with info?

Sign in to disble this ad
I had a request from a potential buyer and was wondering if anyone had knowledge of fee-free transfers via Paypal. They offered me a slightly lower amount and stated they could transfer fee free. Is it the same instant transfer or does it take longer?

Any input is welcome.

He's probably talking about a "gift" payment - best avoided for the reasons outlined in this thread:

It's called a Personal Gift payment. It's the same as an instant transfer but there is no buyer protection and you can't file a complaint about the transaction with Paypal if anything goes wrong. Also, they don't send the sender's address info with the payment. I suggest that you delete this thread because using Personal Gift payments violates TB Rules...

This, although I dunno if deleting this thread is a good idea. It's a good idea to spread awareness because, let's face it, few people read the stickies in every sub-forum. I've gotten quite a few supporting members ask me to use gift payment in the past. Having this up can act as a reminder that doing such a thing is prohibited on Talkbass.

And as a more basic consideration, it's very unsafe for the seller.

18 bucks on a 600 sale is nothing to be able accept instant payments, or 30 dollars per 1000. Price your item to consider these fees of you want to accept instant payment.

If not go open a merchant account and get a credit card machine then check back in if you are still paying 30 per 1000. You will be in the 100-120 range, easy.

For you online and in-person sellers, I have yet to find a better credit card solution:
