PC/Windows - Need Computer Hardware Advice

Sign in to disble this ad
I am running windows XP. I have an ASUS M4A79 motherboard. Currently using a ZOTAC GeForce (I think) 6800GT.

What I want to do is run three (or more) monitors simultaneously. Preferrably 2 DVI and 1 HDMI.

- Do I need to move to Windows7 to support more than two montitors?
- If I can do this with XP any advice on graphics cards?

HELP !!!

XP will do it. But it's been years since I have. You basically have to run two video cards (PCI, AGP or PCI, PCI-e) and install the PCI one first get it working then do the AGP or PCI-e one last.

To answer your question it is easier on 7, but not impossible on XP.

Edit: There is also a setting in the BIOS you have to default to, I think it's to your PCI first.

that card is not going to do what you want it to do.

you will need a newer video card for sure.

Not entirely difficult, there also a program to manage them which I've found useful.
