my daddy just came back from a visit to italy. bein italian it was somewhere he always wanted to go. at 72 years old i think he waited long enough. well he enjoyed the trip loved the place and cant stop talkin about it. he is even now learnin to speak the italian language at the local college for his next trip. he said i could never live in italy because throughout his whole trip he never seen a can of pepsi. all he saw was coke. people of italy is this true? please tell me otherwise.

I've never been there but I can't see why there wouldn't be any pepsi around. All places I've visited in Europe have had both (I think). What's the big deal if there would only be coke available? I personally couldn't care less - They both taste the same, look the same (at least the liquid) and are baaad calorie bombs..

Your story about your dad reminded me of my granddad's trip to California and Hawaii some 10 years ago when he was in his mid-60's. He still talks about it virtually every time I see him. Before that trip I don't think he had traveled even as far as to Germany, so it was quite a trip for him.

Italy is very picky about what they allow imported. The list of prohibited items would shock you. I guess Pepsi is on the list.

Well, no Italian here, but I've been there several times; mostly to Rome.
And let me tell you: there is pepsi in Italy. But as Deacon Blues mentioned, pepsi or coke....what's the deal ?......pretty much the same to me.

Is your dad a coffee drinker? He should have tried the Italian coffee.....SUPERB!!!

Only a Belgian could take a light handed comical comment so seriously.

Nice stereotyping.

I really have no desire to travel outside the borders of my country, but if I ever did, Italy would be on my list. It would be great to get a ristretto from the motherland, and talk caffe' with the people who invented it. I am sure I could learn a thing or two.

Italy is incredible. It's our favorite weekend getaway. I don't drink soft drinks so I couldn't tell you.

However, their wine, on the otherhand can be exemplary and well priced.

That's too bad. You're missing out on a truly great planet worth checking out.

Maybe so. The country I live in now has not ceased to amaze me yet, and I haven't even checked all of it out.

Might be because of all the Coke and Hershey bars US troops negotiated with 60 years ago. Lucky Strikes prolly still available too.

and COMPLETELY INSANE DRIVERS.

Arguably the best highways in Europe. You can easily cruise at 130-150km and hour. Beautiful smooth highways.

Yeah, Italy is definitely on my "want to go there" list. Perhaps even as high as #1. I love good pasta, Italian wines, good pizza, good Italian food in general... I guess the climate is nice too.

Well, I used to drink pepsi...but I quit sodas altogether.

If anyone is going to Italy anytime soon...and need a touring partner..just let me know...(Hope you're willing to pay for my ticket and hotel...'cause I'm broke!)

Three kisses in Switzerland is the norm.
