Wow... Senseless stuff like this just blows my mind. Some people are mean spirited and think it's funny to hurt others anonymously. Like the other day when I was walking down the street on a wet day and a car swerved toward the curb and splashed me with water and honked their horn. Why do people get joy from this kind of crap? My only guess is that they feel they deserve to be treated this way so they take their self-loathing out on others.

Their insurance will cover it and I'll bet some evidence was left at the scene. Anyone stupid enough to do something as pointless as that is also stupid enough to leave behind clues. With this type of particular stupidity, they probably videoed the whole thing and will upload it to Youtube Or brag around the neighborhood about it

My friend's dad used to take us to Mukegon to go fishing at Zulka's when we were kids.

I'm guessing that this was a rural area where neighbors aren't near by. If there were neighbors near by, I'd move out of there. The damage there that took place took hours to do, and would not have been done quietly. I'd imagine that one of my neighbors would hear smashing glass, sledgehammers, etc. This was not a subtle or quiet operation. I would hope that one of them would have called police. Unfortunately, some neighbors would rather call the police if you're jamming too loud than if your place was getting robbed or vandalized.

How long does something like that take?? That took some serious time and effort. I can't imagine making the washing machine look like that was quiet either.

This stuff just bums me out. I hope they catch the people responsible.

If you want to relive the memories, do it in the next couple of years. I don't like the look of those bighead Asian carp that are showing up in Chicago.

It reminds me of the drug addicts (crackheads, mainly) that would break into a house, and completely destroy the inside, so they could steal the wire in the walls, and sell it for scrap.

One article in particular estimated the damage to the house at $65,000, and estimated the worth of the copper in the stolen wire to be $40.

Some people.

Insanity. My heart goes out to the Joneses. The racial motivation doesn't surprise,...although I was hoping in 2010 we would have progressed as a society beyond that. Reality bites.

I might add that you can tell that it was a beautiful home before. I'm willing to bet that some white trash was jealous that the stereotypical roles were reversed.

May all guilty parties be caught, convicted, incarcerated, and, once in prison, forcibly and repeatedly sodomized.

It's the 'hood.

About 3 blocks from grandparents house.

Maybe 100 yards from some family friends house.

...and not far from where my sister and her friend got jumped and beaten by a gang of teenage hoodlums several years back.

Nope.

This is VERY urban.

About two blocks from Muskegon High School.

It's the 'hood.

When my sister and her friend got beat down by a gang near there (10-15 male and female teens beating up two 110lb 12 year old girls) - they had to go to three or four different houses before someone would even call the cops.

Sadly - based on my knowledge of the area - there is about a 75% chance that vandalizers/graffitti writers were African-American... so it could be real interesting if it goes to court.

You know, ..ok how to word this right... people can generally suck but by and large, people who do this sort of thing have far greater issues than just being racist, stupid and/or violent. It's a mentality that usually hides a canyon-full of far deeper issues.
Not excusing it, it's f-ing horrible, it's just my way of rationalizing how someone can do something like that.

An interesting thing to note about his neighborhood -

It's a very old neighborhood in Muskegon, and is full of old - huge - house/mansions.

Some are beautiful, and some look like crack houses. Some are worth lots of money, and some you could probably buy for the cost of paying off the back taxes.

My friends who live about 100 yards away have a MASSIVE house. Probably 5,000 square feet, three stories, has two wings, has a carriage house... and I think they paid a little under $100k for it.

...and it isn't one of the trashier houses in theneighborhood either.
