They just have to beat the Dodgers.

man baseball sure has changed since i followed it regularly. !

i remember when these teams both sucked and didn't even make it past the first round of playoffs.

wait that was last year.

oh well,

GO PHILLIES!!!

Could be worse. My team hasn't made the playoffs in 15 years, but they did beat the Phillies their last time there. Nothing memorable thoguh.

I'd like to see the Phillies go to the World Series (see Manny losing).

yes but i remember this as the Phillies normal game.

i hope nobody is considering me a "Fair Weather Fan" because i honestly dont have the free time to watch baseball. i was a huge Philly fan back in the day. now i just check the scores when i have a free minute.

The Dodger's SS is doing his best to get the Phils to the Series - 3 errors in one inning. Ouch.

Go Jays. Now if they can only put together an entire season like their last 60 or so games and we will be golden.

Congrats and thanks to the Phillies - as a Red Sox fan I really didn't want to see the Dodgers rewarded for acquiring the contract-reneging Manny Ramirez who is an amazing hitter but he also carries a massive load of bad karma with him.

The Phils will have their hands full with either the Rays (they are as good as they look, not a fluke at all) or the Sox (not looking good at all at the moment, but they've been here before).

No doubt the Phils will have their hands full, but they probably have the best overall pitching staff in the postseason this year, that should help them. Go Phils!

As a Dodgers fan, I'm saddened by their collapse in the series against the Phils. However, the reality is that the Dodgers made it to the playoffs only becasue they were the best team (barely) in the worst division in baseball this year. They finished the regular season with a record barely over .500. When they were playing well, they looked great, but long-term consistancy was a struggle all year for the Dodgers - even with ManRam in the line-up. The Cubs should be truly embarassed about getting swept by the Dodgers.

As for the Dodgers' SS, Rafael Furcal, he just had a bad, BAD inning. He's been very solid all year, and is a big part of a young core of talent in the Dodgers organization right now. I'm hoping the Dodgers' management can keep this crew together for next year.

Congrats, Phillies. Good luck.

Phil,
I figured you would be a Nationals, or Rangers or Orioles fan. Do you have a connection to Philadelphia or is your support more a phunction of Phil solidarity? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

If the Sox make the Series (unlikely, I know ), would my buddy Phil who is a diehard Sox fan have to switch sides?????

as much as I like to see the Phillies win it all, I'm pulling for the rays. I could care less after my southsiders got knocked out. But seeing the Scrubbies get blown out of the water by LA made this year worthwhile.

either way I'm glad to see some diffrent teams no boSox/Yankees/Cardinals

I spent a good deal of my youth (including the late 70s and most of 1980) and some of my adult life (including the summer/fall of 1993) in Philly. Love the Phillies. I'm a Nationals fan also. O's I could care less. DH = fraud baseball IMO.

I lived in New England (Mass/Conn) for my first 7 years so I also have a little bit of Red Sox alliegence. But as I wrote, it's not really baseball with the DH. Besides, it's been a long time since the days of Carl Yastrzemski and Rico Petrocelli.

Those were interesting teams in Philly as were the Yaz-Rico teams of the late 60's early 70's.

As long as the Yankees are not in the World Series, I root for the American League (you'll recognize them by their ability to throw and hit curveballs). BTW - I love the DH, I'd much rather watch David Ortiz hit than David Wells.

But what about Brett Meyers' work at the plate with the Phils in this postseason? Three hits all year and now four hits and two tremendous at-bats in the post-season!

The DH is like playing baseball in the bak yard when you're a 7 year old and calling "All-time batter".

I like when pitchers get hits, I just don't like watching them bat. That said, I have all the respect in the world for anyone who stands in a batters box against a major league pitcher especially other pitchers. That pitchers as a whole bat in the low .100's is still an amazing accomplishment to me. Normal human beings wouldn't be able to touch a major league pitch let alone be successful 1 out of 10 or even 1 out of 20 times.

If we want to talk about abominations - don't get me started about artificial turf and parks with permanent domes.
