Lets say, for instance, you come across a pic of something or someone and you don't know who or what it is. Are there any search engines that will allow you to enter the pic into the search field, rather than a standard text entry?
Just curious...

If that's what you're talking about I really don't think there is a search engine out there that can decode the information in a digital image and then trace it to it's origin.
As far as I know all search engines work on text, be it the text in a description of the picture on the website or words in the file/address of that picture.
If you have a copy of the picture you can right click on it and then copy and past the information from the "properties" section into a search engine. Sometimes that works. |

For example a software company here in Iceland is developing this kind of software to aid the police in identifying children pornography pictures. That way the police officers won't have to look at each picture when such a case comes up. They just run them through a big database which identifies the pictures as child pornography.
When such a technology is available to the public, that is another matter...

When such a technology is available to the public, that is another matter... | I was thinking the same thing, but could you imagine the processing power it would take. Hundreds of thousand, possibly millions of people all dragging and dropping photos into google's new photo search engine and they're all looking for pron.
Even worse. You're not looking for pron, but that's what you get. |

Maybe the abundance of light beige could make it effective with porn pictures, but in general, this ain't no face recognition program.
