I'm still absolutely fascinated that someone could crash land that in the Hudson safely. I'd be proud of that pilot no matter what.

The asphalt used in roadways is too thin, and likely a different composition than what is used on runways.....unless there are sections designed for such an emergency? Trying to land on a normal interstate would rip the asphalt right out of the ground, and endanger more people.

The FAA needs to immediately make a Jedi master designation and award....and give them to the pilots. Simply amazing.
