So he had a gun at a night club and shoots himself in the leg. You have to admit, that's pretty funny. I suspect the charges are for discharging a firearm in public? Or maybe a concealed weapon charge?

His biggest problem will be pocession of the handun in NYC limits. Even if he had a CCW it would be illegal for him to carry it within NYC. Hopefully they will send a message and prosecute him to the full extent of the law.

It will be interesting to see if being on the NY Giants buys him anything here. My bet is he gets off with a slap on the wrist.

Any charges would be felonies but you never know. Other celebs have gotten off easy in NYC. Remember P Diddy?? He faced similar charges and I don't think he did jail time.

Other than shooting yourself (which is pretty stupid), I don't see what's crazy about this?

I'd be happy to see him out of the NFL.

Damn glad he's no longer a Steeler.

I wouldn't want people to handle guns in public like that. It was fortunate that he shot himself, not someone else.

he better get nailed at least as bad as vick did. i mean, i love dogs a lot, and vick deserved the harsh penalty, but plaxico could have just as easily killed someone with his crap - his self-inflicted injury shows his ineptitude with a firearm, so he was a public menace.

Maybe they should dedicate a wing of the prison for NFL ball players.

I agree..........but.........

History has proven that NYC seems to go very easy on illegal gun toting celebs and their wannabe "body guards". Both P Diddy and Jay Z got nothing more than slaps on the wrists NYPD cops get in more trouble for use of force

While I agree on one level, what Burress did was realistically an accident. What Vick did was malicious with a ridiculous degree of pre-meditation and intent to harm/torture/kill.

+1000

If you can't handle a firearm properly, then don't handle one. I'm not too sure on NYC laws but I know in Chicago (and all of IL for that matter) it's illegal to carry a concealed weapon. I believe it's a misdemeanor anywhere outside of a sporting event, court of law, a school or liquor serving establishment. Carry in any those places and you're being charged with a felony. They could slap this guy with numerous charges, but I'll bet he gets off with probation and maybe some community service and a stiff fine. I highly doubt he'll serve any jail time, which is what he should receive.

Then again, he did already take a bullet to the thigh so some might think that's some punishment right there?
