Playing songs from USB in car stereo?

Sign in to disble this ad
On Friday I got a new car with a stereo that has a USB port. I happened to have a small drive in my purse, so I plugged it in. The songs played fine in correct album order, and I was excited.

I went to Target and bought a cheap USB drive just for the car, and I used Windows Media Player initially to sync songs on the drive. [I point out here that I had NOT done that with the first flash drive I used.] When I got my music to my car, the songs in folders were playing in reverse order. The songs are numerically tagged fine, but it went 12, to 11, to 10 and so on.

It was weird, but I figured I'd just start from scratch. So I deleted all the songs and then manually added the songs to the drive instead of using WMP again. I used the right click option to "Send To..."

I was driving this morning to work trying to listen to the songs I'd reloaded, and they are STILL playing in reverse order.

I don't know if this is something goofy that WMP did to the flash drive, though it seems likely. No matter what the cause I still don't like it.

Long story short: How do I fix it so the songs play in right order?

Odd. Note sure why they did that. Did you check to see if there are multiple tags that might be messing with the order?

Tags such as what? When I copy CDs into the media player, two digit track numbers automatically become part of the file name. So what else would scramble it?

And again... had two different USB drives with music from the same computer. One of them played the songs correctly; the other didn't.

I don't know... but help is appreciated.

I just yell at my stereo when this happens. Usually it does nothing, but I feel better afterwards.

During my lunch I seem to have gotten it to work. Thanks.
