I would really love to get into Jazz. But more Modern Jazz bands. But preferably a couple bands like Cynic. Because I don't know any other bands that can combine Jazz Fusion, with Death Metal.

Please. and thanks.

I can name some jazz fusion groups or some prog fusion groups, but I'm not too up to date with modern death metal since the last death metal I bought was a Napalm Death one back in '93.

Check out some of these guys:

Planet X
Citriniti
Alan Holdsworth
Vital Information
Derek Sherinian
Attention Deficit

a little more jazz than jazz rock...

Metalwood..great Canadian band... I recommend their album "The Recline"

Medeski, Martin & Wood.. I would recommend "Uninvisible" (album)

I rose to accept your challenge on Spastic Ink, sir.

I was convinced on your statement about 0:48 in.

Even better that Mr. Manring has a history of jamming with them.

Athiest? Eh, ok.

Meshuggah; I've always thought as kind of Fusion Metal, if nothing else for the timbre of the guitar solos.

Mahavishnu Orchestra: Kinda more Jazz/Hard Rock

Modern Jazz that has no metal at all mixed in it: Yellowjackets. I can handle most the stuff they write, some of the more elevatorie stuff I can't get next too.
