Anyone excited to see the new Hayao Miyazaki's new movie "Ponyo" ?

It is supposed to open August 14th

I read that the English dialogue translation suffers (butchered) compared to the original version. Still I am excited to see any Miyazaki movie.

I also read somewhere that it is his first computer animated movie.

I'm stoaked!

I've always loved Miyazaki. I think Nausica is up there in my favorite movies of all time.

If i ever have kids, we wont have this High School Musical crap in our house... my kids will grow up watching things like Totaro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and Howel's Moving Castle.

I'm also excited for the DvD release of Earthsea, which came out in Japan 2 or so years ago. One of my favorite book series done by one of my favorite directors... it's Win-Win (although i think it's just by Studio Ghibli and not Miyazaki... i can't remember).

As for Ponyo...

I belive that around here some of the Indipendent theatres are playing it with Subtitles! So i would catch it there... Bad dubs are a pet peave of mine...

My Daughter made me aware of this movie yesterday...I am intrigued, and liked the trailer...but, the movie posters, both being disney movies...when I saw this though

I immediately thought this

very close visual - thematically.

Its payback for this-

Kimba the White Lion & Simba- The lion King

http://www.geckoandfly.com/tag/simba/

This story has been circulating the net for years now, but I was thinking of sharing it with you guys. Remember the Lion King? The animated cartoon from Disney? Kimba the White Lion by Osamu Tezuka was released in the 70’s, where else The Lion King from Disney was release in the 90’s, considering the fact that both are 20 years apart, what are the odds that both of the storyline are somewhat identical, not similar but identical in almost every aspect.
