It'll never happen, as those outside of North Jersey, East PA, and metro NY/LI have mostly not even heard of it, but you people really ought'a try it if you have the chance.
It's one of those things I really miss about the Northeast. I can only get it down here intermittently. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pork_roll http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...-8&sa=N&tab=wi

A thick hunk, cooked to perfection where it's just starting to brown...., then served on a good hamburger roll with lots of mustard...along side a cold beer...yummy.
I don't eat much of it anymore though, as it 'aint exactly heart-healthy!
It's hard to describe the taste...it's kind of like bacon and a hamburger mixed together. very salty too

I mostly would have a PR sandwich with some kinda cheese and/or eggs. Thick cut is great, but sometimes I would go to the deli and have them slice me up some thin stuff that cooks in no time.
Oh, .... and on a real bagel.....man.....I can't get either down here. Nor pizza or good Chinese or.....

Whattya guys eat nothing but alligator or something??
I've never tried it really thin-sliced. I usually make it hamburger style but now that you mention it, it's also great on a bagel with an egg and cheese.
You can also cube it and mix it into scrambled eggs
dammit, why did you go and start a thread like this, now I want pork roll!
*stomach gurgling..*

| I still eat whatever it is that passes for that heavenly stuff down here, but it's nearly all sub-par.
