Los Angeles Elementary School Under Fire For Inviting Porn Star Sasha Grey To Read To Children, Report Says | Fox News

A Los Angeles area elementary school is facing some major criticism from parents after the district invited porn star Sasha Grey to read to a group of first graders, according to a report from TMZ.

TMZ obtained photos of Grey reading to the children at Emerson Elementary School in Compton on November 2 as part of the Read Across America program.

Grey also tweeted about the experience, gushing that the students were the “sweetest.”

Angry parents fired back at the school’s decision, complaining to the PTA, who then contacted the school’s principle.

A rep for the school district however has flatly denied that Grey was ever present at the school, in spite of the alleged photos.

“We have several celebrities who read to our students each year. The actress you have indicated was not present,” the rep told TMZ.

Earlier this year, Grey told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column that she was finished with the porn industry and wanted to transition into mainstream acting. She has appeared in HBO’s “Entourage,” where she played a fictional version herself and Steven Soderbergh’s 2009 film “The Girlfriend Experience,” where she played a hooker.

“From now on I will not be playing roles where I play a version of myself, or a hooker, for a very long time,” she told Tarts. “I think ‘The Girlfriend Experience’ and ‘Entourage’ were the best places to play those two roles and it can’t get any better. I don’t want to repeat myself, and I think if I continue to take those types of roles I will only be given those roles.”

She also released a book of her own earlier this year, a photography compilation entitled “NEU SEX.”

I'm applaud her moving away from porn and reinventing herself but going immediately into elementary schools as a "celebrity guest" is certainly not the appropriate way to do it. What'll happen when a kid decides to look up Sasha Grey on google? I can definitely see why parents are displeased and I agree with them.

The thing is, I doubt when introduced to the students they said something like "And now, Sasha Grey, former porn star..."

She's moved on and isnt part of the business anymore. Would parents have complained if Julie Andrews, you now Mary Poppins, was reding to kids? After all, kids could google her and find out she was in Cabaret. How about Malcom McDowell? That dude was in A Clockwork Orange AND Caligula! Im pretty sure no one would have complained then.

I get it, but there are bigger things to worry and be outraged about. The woman was doing something good for crying out loud, let her have it.

I find it funny that the school district is outright lying and denying that she was there when TMZ clearly has a photo of her reading to school kids. Perhaps the district didnt know her former affiliation with the porn industry. Or they just didnt care. They'd have a better lie had they said they werent aware. Easier to claim ignorance than to lie when there is photographic evidence.

+1. My first reaction was to be bit shocked TBH, but when you think about it, she's actually doing something good.
She's not dressed in leather thigh-high boots and a thong...(hang on, I need to savor that image for a sec..) so there's nothing shocking or inherently "bad" about her appearance, she's reading to the kids which is nice. No harm there, and she's supposedly no longer in the porn industry anyway.
In as far as google searching her name, porn can be found anywhere on the net these days, and Gaius is right - your 6/7 - year old child should not be allowed unrestricted access to the internet anyway.

Porn actors get to do on camera what people do or wish they could do in private. I think that kids Googling her have unsupervised access to a computer, and that is the real problem. I don't think she should be banned from kids unless she has done something inappropriately with kids. We really need to look harder at "respectable" people like priests, coaches, and teachers, instead of upfront sex workers or pornstars.

I would bet that at least some of those parents who are so "outraged" by this would have no problem with their kids watching "Saw" or "Hostel" at a sleepover. Or playing Modern Warfare or Warcraft on their XBox.

Sex is the worst thing in the world, yet blatant occult themes and gratuitous violence is A-OK. Seems to be the prevailing mindset, and I find it ridiculous.
