Sign in to disble this ad
The optical output on my TV is broken.
I would like to convert the analog RCA out put from my TV to a digital optical signal to my soundbar.

I saw many device that will convert optical to rca but not the other way.

Should work. I don't know much about the civilian side of fiber (I work in a military shop that fabricates most of our fiber runs) but as long as the fiber cable has the right ends on it between the AD converter and your sound system you should be set.

Peace,
Greg

That device should work, but you might notice a quality difference. Can you get the digital audio signal from another device like your cable box/over air hd converter?
Good luck,
Dirk

Hi.

Does a factory reset fail to rectify the digital out problem?

Possible?

Sort of, but generally:

No.

The program from the RCA connectors has typically only L/R information, and the cheapo stand alone A/D converters and optical drivers are pretty crappy to begin with. You gain absolutely nothing with that conversion unless the run is more than 20m or so.

+1 for getting the digital feed from some other source.

Regards
Sam

The optical output on my tv seem physicaly broken. When the cable is plug in the sound play and cut all the time. If I move the cable i can make it cut when I want.
I try to hold it in a way that the sound wound cut, but it usualy doesn't last more then 1h.

Right now the sound bar is pluged in the cable box.
So it's working perfectly when I'm watching tv.
But I would like to have the sound bar working also when I watch a DVD or when I play with the Xbox.
