Post Apocalyptic Costume

Sign in to disble this ad
What's happenin guys?

So, I've decided to put together a post apocalyptic style costume for halloween this year. I'm really pumped because my band will be playing at the TransAllegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston which has been featured on Ghost Hunters and some other shows. So, I'm wanting to put some thought into this years costume rather than throwing something together like I do most years.

Here's what I have so far

This is a piece from my medieval reenactment days(just the body piece):

These are on the way...will be painted:

And I'm going to go with a gas mask, probably this one. There are some I preferred on ebay, but they'd be coming from overseas and I don't trust that they'd make it in time:

I'll be doing some weathering to that and possibly painting it.

From here, I have ideas but nothing solid. Considering making some patchwork pants out of old jeans that no longer fit. Gonna check some thrist stores/goodwill for shoe ideas. I'm also coming up with ideas for fake gadgets/survival gear.

I'm definitely not going for anythign specific...but I'm trying to keep it crazy and threatening.

So, anyone have any ideas they'd be up for sharing? I'll post progress pics if ya do...

Go with the gas mask on and nothing else. There will be no need for clothes.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to try some Mantyhose!

Well, the costume is complete. For the time spent, I'm content with the end result. The shoulder pads were the only item I purchased. Everything else was found essentially around the house, aside from a respirator mask which came from a family member.

The first Halloween gig is a benefit tomorrow night and then the big Halloween gig at the Weston asylum Saturday. I'll toss some pics up sometime next week.

Every post apocalypse needs a few zombies. Go as a zombie.

Did the zombie thing for a gig after a zombie walk Friday before last.

Protip: Obtain proof that someone can successfully do decent zombie make-up before allowing them to 'attempt' it on you.

Also, without me there would be no post apocalypse.

Picture time for any who may have been interested. I feel it felt short on the post apocalyptic goal, but it was close enough to get people to yell thunderdome, etc at me. Guess it was enough to get the idea across at least...
