Here's my dog, Gumbo, posing next to a painting of himself done back when he had hands. And a suit. We shave his mane every spring.

I wholeheartedly approve of this post.

This is Buttons, who will jump onto my shoulders and ride me around the house any chance she gets. It sucks when I'm not wearing a sweater.

Buttons and Rusty- they have a love/hate thing.

Hawkins, a very young African Grey who likes to sit on my shoulder while I play bass.
Sometimes I have to keep him amused so he doesn't nom on my earring. Here we're sharing a bean. Actually, I'm just holding it for him.

Sabre the Boerboel with Sabrina the Pom - 120 lbs and 8 lbs, respectively

A young Jai the pitbull (he's a senior dog now) with an even younger Shiraz the cat. Old photos, but hey, bring up a topic that's been covered, you get repeats!

Very unusual dog--what breed is it?

Dutch Shepherd

Wonderful animals, but I definitely would not recommend the breed for the canine novice. Very smart, supremely athletic and active, and unbelievably stubborn...makes for a tough combination to train.

This fella would test my patience often, but he's finally settling down now that he's turned two. He's was always sweet-natured, but had a habit of getting into things he knew he shouldn't, or being damn rebellious during training.

He still has some quirks to work out (likes to argue too much)...but he's getting there.

If you touch that bass, I will burn a hole in your soul!!!

My kitty is now 18, and still going. She's almost blind, and her hearing is fading, but she's still full of loves.

Our old girl, Loopy Lou, purrs louder now than ever. It's like she's just glad to[still]be alive. She's pretty deaf & I'd guess her vision is pretty shot. I'm sure she has cat's-heimers.
