Post Your Wreckage

Between lo freq's family wreck, and Eric Perry's back breaking wreck, there's been a lot of automotive punishment here lately. Lets see the wrecks and a brief story.

I got cut off by a 16 year old kid without a drivers license (it was suspended) who thought the needed a cherry limeade from sonic more than he needed to yield. We were both going ~45mph and hit left headlight to left headlight.

Luckily, my parents had given me some steel toed doc martens about 10 min. before I got into that wreck. The floor board folded up under my feet, and my steel toes have a big dent in them. I had flip flops on before that.

Not me in the picture.

I hit gravel on a curve (I was going a bit too fast) and my back wheels started to slide. I got the car back under control, but by that time I was on the wrong side of the road, going into on-coming traffic. I hit my breaks to slow down and go off onto the shoulder, which dropped off suddenly, went down into the ditch and rolled once. There were five people in the and the worst injury was a cut on my finger, we were all wearing seatbelts and that saved lives. The cops that showed up couldn't believe that no one was seriously hurt.

I can't find any car wreckage photos at the moment.

I've totaled 2 Hondas, at the fault of other people.

First one was 99 Honda Civic. An old man in an SUV pulled out right in front of me without looking. I veered to the left to avoid him and hit a low median/flowerbed in the middle of the road. My car popped over that and landed in the opposing lane. Luckily there was no traffic. It ripped open a bunch of the undercarriage, popped all the tires, etc etc. Car was totaled.

Second one was a 2001 Honda Accord. I was sitting at a light, and guy exiting the freeway ran straight into the back of me at about 50 mph. My backend was done for. I retained the salvage after the insurance company called it a total loss. I fixed the back end and any mechanical damage for just 2k and pocketed the rest.

Only one I have photos of is a small motorcycle crash. In a fit of newbie panic, I went upright in a turn and the bike headed for a fence. I hopped off and flew through the air for a bit before luckily landing in the grass. The bike went end over end for a little bit and got wrapped up in a barbed wire fence. Here's the bike after the crash.

Not too much damage. Cracked a cylinder head, broke a mirror off, shift lever broke in two, and headlight broke. Least I walked away and got the bike running again with no issues and very few dollars.

I went to dialysis at 5:00 am (my regular time) and parked my truck in the parking lot. 2 hours later, the nurse woke me up and said, "You're truck's on fire." Next thing I knew, they were evacuating the clinic while the fire department was putting out the fire. Truck was totaled, and my favorite Rush CD was melted into the CD player.

Turns out that there was a defect in the cruise control which caused the fire. However, since my insurance paid off the loan I didn't officially suffer any loss, so I got screwed on the deal.

Reckless Tahoe driver on a slushy winter day passed in the turn lane and continued over the line into my grill. Thank God for the way things turned out. Air Bags did in fact work, despite my home repair that left the warning lights on. Last minute maneuvering angled the impact into sending my car 50 feet straight out from the road.

I can play this game. goddammit.

Duchebag fratboys decided that my car was th easiest thing to pick on that night. My car fought back a little by cutting their hands up with its fender.
Good morning Joe! Your car is on its side. (with pics!)

Lost control on a dirt road and stopped the wrong way up.

I've been driving for 15 years and have never been in a wreck (knock on wood). Is there something wrong with me?

No pics, but my dad hit my 84/85 Toyota pickup with a Backhoe. Did some good damage to the rear right quarter. Put out the right tail light, and there was metal on metal that kept shorting out my light fuses. Super Fun.

A couple months back while I was in India, he was backing up his F150, and backed into the Toyota again (front right). He didn't realize this, and when he felt some resistance, he thought it was his parking brake, so gave it more gas. He ended up pushing the poor Toyota a good 10 feet. I talked to him a couple times before I got home, but I only found out when I got home, walked past my truck, and saw all the dents and missing paint. Turns out he wasn't going to tell me..........FACEPALM.

That is an excellent question. I think he did, but it didn't really register until too late.

geez, bro, you all are lucky. am i right in seeing that is a volvo? i guess their over-engineering is a good thing after all.

no pix of my last accident. after 13 years without a proper winter, i moved to iowa. my first winter back, i re-learned about driving in the snow by kissing a city bus. i was barely going 10mph, but rear-ending a bus, well, there is no give from the bus. i think i would have been better off hitting a brick wall, it would have absorbed some of the impact. my subaru did survive and has been happily serving me these last six years since.
