Interesting for sure. Doesn't exactly seem to be a very "negative" lasting effect either.

"Taking magic mushrooms (psilocybin) can have a lasting change on the individual's personality, making them more open about their feelings and the way they perceive things..."

Absolutely true.

What does that have to do with taking mushrooms?

Seeing the 'shadows' that you do while on shrooms can make you pretty paranoid. If you're already at a predisposition to be paranoid, doing shrooms can take it to an uncomfortable level.

I dont know, Ive only ever gotten that paranoid once, while taking them on the beach in Huntington. Saw what looked like police boats coming up to the shore, and shadows of people walking out to sea. I documented that in a painting I did a few days later. Ive done them in a number of places... Las Vegas Strip, Golden Gate Park, my friends bedroom, my bedroom, Schabarum park, my current house.
If you put yourself in a comfortable enviroment, and know what to expect, there really isnt much discomfort, aside from it taking 30 minutes to get to your car in the driveway to retrieve some CDs.

The best tip I've ever gotten in regards to doing shrooms or lsd is that you have to get everything on your agenda accomplished and out of the way before you do them. Otherwise those worries are going to ware down on you.

Set and setting is the important thing I feel. It's got to be out in the sticks or other, amongst nature with whomever you feel comfortable with for the best results ime. It definitely changes your perception to a degree, you don't look at things quite the same way after. I found it a very positive experience, but it pays to set it up right. Trying them indoors or out on the town I found a little too claustrophobic, need that serenity and space.

Yeah, you definitely can't partake if you have things to do. Clear out 5-8 hours, and then youre going to want some rest afterwards.

Setting plays a lot into how you'll receive your trip. Outdoors, amongst nature, is definitely makes for a more "hippie-ish" one with nature type trip. Ive done them indoors, and ended up jamming a 6 minute song for 30 minutes. Ive painted & drawn whilst tripping, very abstract stuff. Honestly, the "worst" experience Ive ever had on them I described a bit in a previous post, and even that was a great trip, very visual.

Psilocybin can also cause nausea and panic attacks.

This little sentence sums it up for me. Ugh.

I never had hardcore visuals or anything. But I never did eat a lot. Next time I'll make sure to take a healthy dose, for the sake of science.
The only side effect I ever have is some stomach discomfort.
If your not in a good mood, don't bother. Mind over matter.

Yep, mood plays a big part in which direction it will take, not a good idea if anything major is happening in your life at the time. I've had quite a few experiences indoors or out on the town, jamming with musicians etc. I'd much rather it away from distractions in an open environment, a much better connection for me, saying that it's been about 15 years since I dabbled with them last.

I could have told them this piece of research for nothing.
