Pray for Christopher Hitchens

An agnostic petitioning prayer for such an outspoken atheist drips of irony, but it may help....who knows?

For those that don't know, Hitchens is a superb writer and speaker. Esophageal cancer is nasty business, but it can be beat.

Does this mean that he is canceling his debate with James White? I have been looking forward to it as White is one of the few guys that is a better debater than Hitchens. I wish Hitchens the best and he will be in my prayers.

What are White's views on religion?

Hitchens is an interesting fellow. Him and I obviously have some serious differences in viewpoint (I'm a Christian after all) but he's certainly an interesting writer and I feel some of his writings are a good challenge to take on. He's also definitely less of a douchebag than Dawkins.

I wish him good health.

I saw Hitchens debate with Dinesh D'souza a few months ago on campus at the University of Florida. He was excellent. I certainly hope he recovers.

He is the Christian version of Hitchens. He usually has people admitting that they are wrong by the end of the debate, I have even seen a few where it is so bad that it is embarrassing for the other guy. Not that he is mean, he is just that good and researches for months and months before the debate. The guy reads several books a day.

No, it was lined up for the summer sometime. I am disappointed that it wont happen now. No matter who would have come out on top, it would have been great to watch, because they are both very crafty with their arguments and both are brilliant.

Note, in this video you probably have to know the context of the debate to understand it, but it shows White's style.

I wish Mr. Hitchens well. He is an orator who makes people think.

Yeah, I've always liked his writing even though I've disagreed with him on many things. He's one of the few thinkers today who doesn't blindly adopt the party line.

I agree with Hitchens and respect him, but he's not necessarily someone I think makes the best advocate for the cause. He definitely comes across as arrogant and abbrasive (not unlike Dawkings), that said, I wish him a thorough and swift recovery.

My mother caught Esophageal cancer after two bouts of breast cancer. It's very nasty, but it can be survived, at least for a while.

yeah I saw a couple minutes of the Anderson Cooper interview missed most of it though. He actually didn't look bad. I mean he's undergoing chemo and his hair is gone but he doesn't have any sort of wasting or gauntness to him.
