I've always thought that in the past many times 'wasting diseases' and other types of non-specific deaths were probably due to cancers that were beyond the power of that age's medicine to discern.

lowsound | I've never had a problem reading them and have never made an account. I wonder if it has something to do with where you live,.. or your IP adress or something..

I think scientists will have a hard time with any conclusion as long as the control group is mummified remains. "There is a further complication: more than 99 percent of cancers originate not in bone but in softer organs, which quickly decay. Unless they spread to bone, they will most likely go unrecorded."
The most certain part of the article was something modern science already knew: With an organism as complex as humans, the incredible amount of cell division and reproduction that goes on almost guarantees a cancerous glitch sooner or later. If everyone lived long enough, everyone would experience some form of cancer.
Environmental factors aside, I think cancer has always been with us, at much the same rate as we have today, and the longer life spans and improved diagnosis only make it seem as though we've experienced an increase through the course of human history.

I read many from around the country and it pops up now and again to create an account. I simply click out of it and try again and most times it works. |
