Awesome. I have to wonder if whoever at Playmobil who designed it did so as a prank, to see if it would get through the system, or if they sincerely thought kids would enjoy it.

Looks like a good idea to me. The sooner we teach our young about the general inconvenience, incompetence and overwhelming sense of agonizing boredom one experiences while traveling by air, the better prepared they'll be when that experience comes about.

I can see the funny side of this. On the other hand, I do have a serious question.

Would we have laughed at this toy in late 2001? I suspect not. Reactions to it would probably have been very different, but one can only speculate.

So why do we react differently now? Have things actually changed out there in the world? Or do we just have short memories?

Just interested is all. Keep any anwers non-political, non-religious and civil please people.

Personally, I can laugh now as I'm a tad more jaded.

I think any laughing we do is kind of a reflexive thing- sort of whistling past the graveyeard, if you will. Me, I thought it was ironic and a little bit amusing, and that's why I put up the OP. And it gives a way to vent about the unavoidable inconveniences we face every day. On an altogether different level I'm kind of sad that my daughter and other kids her age have to accept the real security checkpoints they'll need to face.

And the fact is some of us might have laughed at such a toy in late 2001. Might have cried, too. Then at some point we'd get back to doing what we had to keep our kids as safe as possible in this only world we got. What else can you do?
