Thought this was pretty rich. I can sympathize with this guy.

When you're that clueless, is there really any hope? Maybe he should become one of those beat maker guys who uses computer programs to make songs.

I was thinking he knows theory inside and out but can play. Sounds like he should be a band critic or a guitar teacher.

THis one was pretty pathetic sounding too.

I think that should have been in Men seeking men personals more than musicians wanted.

Meh, I've known talented players who had no sense of music in that they could put together complex scales and rhythms to make music nobody wanted to listen to and others who could barely play a handful of open chords and yet write beautiful songs. The ability to play won't get you all the way there, you have to feel it too.

That being said I won't be the one to tell him that! If he keeps playing who knows, maybe one day it will all click.

Very true. I've been bouncing back and forth between bands with capable musicians and bands with quality songwriters in my playing history. Seems ridiculously hard to find both qualities in a single package.

He has no soul. Just like James Brown said: You can't hide the funk.

I do believe that much of what James Brown did was involuntary. He had to make that music.
