Primer movie

Anyone ever see this? Stumbled across it on Netflix the other day and decided to check it out.

Technically a SciFi/time travel movie but very different than any film in that genre I can think of. Closest comparison would probably be Donnie Darko, but Primer is much more grounded in science; there's no fantasy/magical aspect to it.

Very hard to follow but the flipside is it stands up to repeated viewing well as more and more details become clear when doing so....it's the kinda movie you will think is really cool or it will frustrate the Hell out of you.

Most remarkable to me is the film was made on a budget of $7,000. Yup, $7,000.

I thought it was good. I only saw it one and was thoroughly confused by the second half....need to see it again to try to make heads and tails of it all.

Indeed. On second viewing, it made a lot more sense. [spoilers, highlight to read]: for instance, knowing that the first scene of Abe telling Aaron about the machine is actually Aaron AFTER he has gone back the first time...subsequent events make a lot more sense with this knowledge.

This is one I kept meaning to see because the writer/director/star is the brother of a friend from college but somehow I never got around to it.

I quite enjoyed this film when I saw it a while back, very interesting narrative construction! Oh, and if you've seen the film, then you might find this amusing

I have heard that this movie was good and actually bought the DVD. I haven't even watched it all yet and I've owned it for a couple of years now.

I may have to dig it out of the stack of movies on the DVD shelf and commit to watching the whole thing.

Set aside enough time to sit through it for a second viewing more-or-less immediately.

Its a great movie, but you almost have to use a diagram and a protractor to follow all the things that happen. Watching it a bunch of times makes it a little easier to figure out whats going on, but its still a pretty complex chain of events.

Great flick, I watched it like 4 times...You have to pay close attention to their neck ties, and accept that you will never know exactly what is going on.
