Yes, it does make a difference, at least to me. I find that I usually prefer cars owned by women(note that i say "women"), are better taken care of. They are cleaner, and usually are well maintained, often with maintenance records attached. But on the flip side I usually cant talk mechanics with women as much as with a male. What are your thoughts ?

| | | | Women don't usually know much about cars, and around here, they also don't seem to know how to drive. When I got my truck I dealt with a man who at least was sensible enough that I figured he wasn't driving the hell out of it. I won't deal with some idiot speed jockey either, because you know they aren't easy on cars. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but all of the men I know (including myself and family) maintain vehicles regularly.
Also, I try to stay away from modified vehicles. If I didn't do it myself, I don't trust it. Same goes for bass. |

I understand! Here in southern Indiana there aren't as many race nuts.
I remember going to California. Insane is an understatement. |

What are your thoughts ? | Ive bought 3 different cars from private parties. The first was a man who sold me a 95 Dodge Neon. First car I ever bought in 2002. It was in good condition, and went almost a year before I blew a head gasket. It was my fault however, as being a newb & not knowing anything about cars, I never changed the oil.
The second was a 93 Mazda 626. I bought it from a woman. The sunroof didnt work cuz her kid jammed the shade cover into the track. Right after I bought it it needed a new catalytic converter. Lasted me maybe 8 months before my 2nd gear started slipping & I needed my tranny rebuilt.
The third was another guy who sold me a complete lemon. 93 Nisssan Maxima. My fault though, I needed a car bad and bought up the first cheap thing that could drive that came my way. My piston valves started to get stuck and the car would loose acceleration on randomly shut off, even on the freeway.
All other cars have been bought via dealer. From Saturn of Cerritos.
Make what you will of that.

At the time I bought the car I wanted, with the mileage and features I wanted, at a price I wanted to pay. Didn't find gender frequently listed in the description so that never really played a role.

Given the abysmal level of ignorance that most people have about cars, I'd prefer that they had a local shop take care of it so I can call that shop and check their report.
And dealing with a man or a woman is completely irrelevant.

I am an exception to the women side. I take extremly great care of mine and I cover it everyday at work. Done that with every car I owned in the past too. |

Anyone who keeps no records on maintenance, likely didn't maintain the car/truck very well.
You can usually tell by examining.
I keep meticulous records on my trucks...even the old ones.
Funny thing, a new car dealer doesn't seem to give a hoot about records as it relates to your trade-in.
You would think it would matter to them, but they don't seem to care.
Sometimes this is because they simply take it to the local auto auction house. Other times used car buyers don't ask.
Cheers, Dave |

| | | | If it's a car that you can take pride in I'd prefer male owner because they usually do the maintaince, if it's a car no
pride taken in. Example
ford fusion it doesn't matter, it was probably neglected. Women often don't know that you have to change the oil. Much Less transmission fluid tranny filter, differential fluid, air filter spark plugs wires. Brake fluid. |

I drive the car, listen to it, and take it to a mechanic. Man or woman. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
