Pro.

I was thinking ... I really don't want any products with "Pro" in the name. (Except, of course, my Bob Wolfe Quick Cat Collegiate-Pro Indoor-Outdoor All-Purpose Four-Striper Track Shoes.) It implies that someone would contend that the item is not really for professionals, so it must be asserted in the name of the product. If it has the traits and qualities that pros require, they're going to use it. They don't need it to say "Pro" on it.

This goes for bicycles, badminton racquets, tires, hair products, electric shavers, baseball gloves, car polish, deodorants, underwear, and, of course, basses and amps.

What say you, international bass players?

I feel that the term *pro* in a product's title indicates that I am *for* the use of said product, as opposed to indifferent- maybe I found these $150 shoes on a dead guy and just grabbed them.. W/the *pro* descriptor, my true feelings are clear to the layperson. I may add this to everything I own except my FB timeline.

Using terms like "PRO" in a product name or description usually brings out the skeptical side of myself....

I think we need to go back to having "Xtreme!" in all of products, from skateboards to nachos.

Agreed. It automatically removes credibility of a product for me. It implies that I am so simple minded that I will buy into the hype and buy the product. I actually get a tiny bit offended by it. But not to the point that it makes me mad. I just don't buy the stuff. But it never really occurred to me on a conscious level until you brought it up.

now now, if the product says it's pro, and you're wearing it, you must be pro.

I'll happily take any of the "pro" series midas consoles, no problem.
I don't care about branding as long as it does what I need.

Pro at all sorts of things, as in it is reliable and powerful enough to use for professional applications. Video/photo.audio editing in particular. Can't say that about a $400 Toshiba from Best Buy.

I agree. I am fed up with protractors, provisions, produce, profit, and protein, to name a few.

whenever I see "pro" on discount entry-level brands I think "thats cute, they imitated the features on high-end brands and now want to be viewed as equal in quality"

I'm with you in principal but I don't give much credit at all to labeling. I look at the specs and make the best decision I can.
