problem with my blu ray player

Sign in to disble this ad
I own a Samsung sound bar BD-HT8200 with an integrated blu ray player in it. PLuged in HDMI with my Toshiba television.
What will happen very often is that I will get the sound from the BD but not the image.
The television is just black with nothing.
Sometimes I just close everything and open them again and it will work.
Sometimes nothing at all work and I need to completely reset my TV to factory settings.
Or what will work sometimes also is I just switch the input. From HDMI 1 to HDMI 2
It's very annoying. Any idea what the problem might be?
I'm aware that the problem might be sitting on the couch!

HDMI connections require a handshake between the the source device and your TV, and it sounds like this isn't happening correctly. Have you tried a different HDMI cable? Otherwise I would head over to the avsforums and also ask you questions.

I own a Samsung Bluray player and although I haven't had problems with mine there are many other users who've had reported problems with the same player over at the AVS forums. If anyone else has had the same problem with your soundbar, more than likely you can find the solution there.

One other suggestion is find out how to check and upgrade the firmware on both your soundbar and TV. If it is a handshake incompatibility issue, that's what you will have to do to fix it.

Thank you both for your answers.
I posted my question on the candian digital forum...
No luck, they basicaly said that anything can happen with an HDMI connexion and there is not much todo.
But I will try the AVS forum. I tried the other forum first because I was a member it was easier.

The firmware on the dvd is up to date. But i haven't found any firmware upgrade for my tv on the toshiba web site.
