Professional/Dress Clothing

With interviews coming up for summer jobs, I need some help with dress clothing. My wardrobe generally consists of t-shirts, polos, and jeans, so I need to buy some dress clothes.

Any recommendations on where to buy (online) or any brands/styles? What am I looking for for a typical job interview?

I already have belts and a pair of black leather dress shoes, so I need help with shirts, pants, and jackets.

I would suggest actuall going to the store to buy. What kinds of jobs are you going to be interviewing for? Most job interviews do not require a full suit although being over dressed would not hurt. 've never worn a suit to an interview even though I am an office professional.

I will be applying to EMT jobs. One prospective job is for an emergency response unit at a theme park. Another is with a private ambulance company.

Go to a store and get a fitter to choose things for you. They'll get you a suit that compliments your build and features and can advise you on stylistic choices depending on what you're dressing for. Oh, and never buy a suit with pockets that open.

My favourite suit is a Ben Sherman one with a black check pattern and silk lining, matched with a black and silver tie (the black pattern on the tie looks like a graphite weave!) and a checked white shirt.

A lot of people suggest going for a navy blue suit instead of a black one, because black looks too stiff and imposing. I say go for the black suit, every time.

Black pants, white shirt, conservative tie, appropriate haircut...you are not applying for a role on broadway or to be CEO of a company. Keep it simple...less chance of running afoul of someone's sense of fashion.

Get some pleated khakis, a nice dress shirt, and a corresponding tie. You'll probably want loafers or some sort of brown dress shoes with that outfit. I wouldn't worry about a suit for an EMT interview. And whatever you do, DO NOT commit the cardinal sin of dressing up. SHORT SLEEVED dress shirt with a tie. It screams..GEEK.

If you want to buy online, some place like GAP would probably be fine for that type of outfit.

For this particular job, dressing like an undertaker is probably not advisable.

I'm a big fan of the black suit. Call it morose all you want, but black looks damn good on me and I know it. Have it fitted properly, at a nice clothier if possible, good shoes, etc.

I don't really like white shirts though. I look really good in darker colors, so I have a royal blue shirt that I typically wear with my suit, and it looks fantastic. In this area, I'd pay extra-special attention to what colors complement your features the most.

Grey suit, white shirt and red or blue tie. Black is a bit formal for a job interview.

You cannot go wrong with a gray suit.

If it were me I would go with a nice pair of dress slacks, colored long sleeve shirt and a nice tie. If you are going to get a suit get one you will ware for other things as well. Don't spend your money on somthing you are going to ware once or twice before it goes out of style or you get to fat for it. You can be stylish. No reason to get a blue, grey or black busnessman's suit just for an interview if it not you.

Check your local second hand store if you're not planning on spending much. They usually have really nice jackets and blazers perfect for your thing. I bought a Armani business suit-like jacket there for $20 and it looks and feels new. I look so profesh in it.

I would not wear a suit to an interview for an active job like an EMT. I think it would be over-dressing and might give the wrong impression. As others have suggested, shirt and tie with dress pants are the way to go IMO.

I've always had good luck with stuff from Joseph A Bank. Especially the Traveler shirts and pants. Their website has a clearance section where some good deals can be had. Good luck with the interviews.

You should dress at a level appropriate to the job you want. If you're going for a senior executive job, then sure, a dark suit, long-sleeved white shirt and tie are the ticket. For an EMT, I think nice khaki slacks and a sport shirt works. Make sure your shoes look good, too. I don't think you have to wear a tie, but make sure whatever clothes you wear are clean and pressed. I'd recommend against wearing the droopy-drawers, emo-skin or any of the other trendy clown suits the kids are wearing these days. Piercings? Take 'em out. Tattoos? Cover 'em.

When I interview someone for a technician job, I don't want to see a three-piece suit. They're going to wear Levis and a polo shirt on the job, so that's cool with me. When I'm going to interview an engineer or scientist, I ask them not to wear a tie so I don't feel underdressed at the interview (we are a pretty casual company).

I like black too. The only suit I own is charcoal grey. A barely visible plaid might be nice for the next one. Of course I have mixed feelings about suits. I look damn good in them, but am also glad that I don't have to buy them regularly.

While I never feel its a bad idea to wear a dark suit to a interview, if that not your thing maybe opt for a navy blazer with khakis and a white shirt and conservative tie. Its right in between. But please if you go this route find a blazer without gold buttons, IMO. Good luck.

Look for he dress shirts that say "fitted"They are cut narrower from under your arm to your waist, you wont look like your wearing a tent..Your shirt size is a must know for good looks.Find one that has 2 numbers on it say 15/34.first number is the neck ,the other is the sleeve length.open it up try it on.to tight on your neck or short in the sleeves go up and down with the numbers till you find your size.I suggest Kohls.Expect to pay around 20 for the shirt.Good luck
