Prom coming up!

Sign in to disble this ad
So my prom is this Friday night and for our after prom party, we're going to a club with an open bar. I don't usually drink (I've had 1 beer before at a party) but I do plan on doing so that night (since I payed $50 for the open bar).

My problem is that I don't know my limits. I do smoke weed and with that, I'd say I'm a lightweight. One toke has never failed to get me a little high. That has always surprised me and those around me since I'm a pretty big guy. What I'm worried about is that in the 2 hours that we have the open bar, I'm going to drink too much because I don't know when to stop and the entire night will just become unpleasant.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me so that I don't end up as the guy puking his guts out after a half hour of the open bar?

If so, thanks!

ps. I do want to get drunk so I don't want to sip one beer all night.

Drink gin straight.

By the time it starts tasting tolerable, its probably time to call it quits.

Easy. Watch Casino Royale in advance, then do what James Bond would do.

Just remember to mix wine and beer. I did that. Drank 5 pints of beer, then proceeded to around 6 glasses of wine. Really, never mix different types of alcohol with eachother. It's the worst thing to do ever. So if you start with liquor and drink that till you're even the least bit drunk, then my advice would be STICK with liquor. And also, it's crucial to control youself When you feel your mind working maybe a bit slow, but control over body parts and speech and general motorics are low, then it's time to stop. If you drink more then, you'll break into a sweat, and if more then it's due time to throw up! And we dont want that do we :<

The other night my drunken friends and I decided it would be a good idea to walk from the house to one of my favorite dining esablishments, The Pita Pit. It was what felt like a 5 mile walk, but was really like 5 blocks, and in my drunken stupor I decided to barrel roll about 30 feet down a hill. It was really fun at the time, but the next morning when I woke up my back was killing me.

So, moral of the story: Don't barrel roll down hills.

You're Canadian. Just have a few Molsons and a few Labatts and call it a night.

Seriously, for a young drinker of average build, 2 beers per hour should put you in a good place without going overboard. Don't be the guy that gets wasted. That's just not cool.

Some of the advice above is sound. Don't drink all sorts of drinks just because you can. Mixing beer, wine, liquor, etc. will make you feel sick. Sweet drinks are for girls, and they will make you feel sick. Stay away from shots. They'll make you feel sick. Watch out for wine. It can lead to horrible headaches and hangovers. Put whiskey on that list too. Just have a few beers and you'll do fine. Remembers that partying is about having a good time with friends, and not just drinking.

Good luck and enjoy!

All kidding aside, you do not need to get drunk. It's all good and well that you paid $50, but if you've only ever had a drink before in your life, you need to take it easy. Here's a good method. Take a pen with you and every time you get another drink, make a mark on your hand. By keeping a tally you won't forget how many you've had. Then when you hit some number you stop. Since you have very little experience drinking, you shouldn't be having more than 5 or 6 drinks, if that.

In my experience the tally method works pretty well. Last time I did it I wrote 'stop at 8' and the next morning I had 9 tally marks and a penis on my hand. I think the penis counted as a drink. In a drunk state you will very likely go over your limit, because you'll say STUPID LIMIT HARDY HARR. But at least it's a reminder that 'oh, I'm two over now? I should really think about stopping...' Better knowing than not knowing, in my opinion.

Just have a good time. When you have drank enough to where you aren't having fun anymore, then slow down for awhile.

If you can't figure out your limit, then you shouldn't be drinking. That's like trying to drive a car when you don't know how to control your speed or how fast is too fast. Dangerous.

Don't listen to these nay-sayers. Drink up! Just do so in moderation. You are young, and now is the time to find your limits. The best way to learn is to jump right in. Remember; moderation is the key. Show a little class and maturity by pacing yourself and not going too far.

Also, what about smoking up while I'm drunk, I've heard that it makes some people feel sick.

don't do the smoking while you drink ... it does make alot of people quite sick.

just enjoy sipping a beer throughout the night.. when you drink your beer .. don't guzzle half down at once, just steadily sip it..

and again, like everybody else said .. DON'T mix your drinks .. that will make it worse ..

pick a beer, and stick with it.

I don't do shots, I don't do drugs .. I just drink beer. And By the end of the night I'm the last one standing.
