i am going to get a portable gaming system
but i need to know which is best. it has been a long time since i played video games, so i need to know what system is best. the last portable system i played on was a "sega game gear" it broke when i checked it in my luggage on the plane. even then it was about 12 years ago.
what system offers the best games for killing time and overall ease of play.
i don't care if the games are violent or cartoony
i don't really care for puzzle games.
school the gaming noob.
i did a search on google and apparently both sony and nintendo have new products.

He earned a DS last year after achieving some goals that my wife and out thought damn near impossible. He opted to wait a year in order to get one of these. The kid has WAY MORE discipline that I ever had at 7. |

The 3DS looks pretty cool, nice to see some 3D tech that doesn't require glasses!

I dont know how else to put it. the newer PSP version only downloads content, You can't go to the store and buy games or movies for it and it seems that most of sony's support is going towards that model.. now if your in the used market you could probably make out like a bandit with the older model psp and used games and movies..
or just get a DS so u can play pokemans |

| | | | I'd go with Nintendo. I go into stores and never see anything that looks fun on the PSP, I read magazines and forums and never hear about anything that sounds fun on the PSP. Also, I'd wait a few months for the 3DS to come out.

I wouldn't buy the pspGO (new model), but there are plenty of games for psp in UMD format available (amazon is really cheap). You can also set up skype on it if you manage to get the skype headset and have access to wi-fi. As well as being able to listen to shoutcast stations via wi-fi as well.
Some rpg titles include- Lunar: Silver Star Harmony, Ys Seven (action rpg), and Star Ocean 1 & 2.
Fighting games include titles like- Blazblue Calamity Trigger, Guilty Gear #Reload (includes GG Judgement on same umd), and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny
If you like oldschool dungeon crawlers, there's a game called Class of Heroes.
Of course there are plenty of action and fps games for the psp as well. I've been having fun playing Dante's Inferno. There are UMD movies out there. The format never really got much support but if you pick up a few of them and one of the cables for tv hookup, you can use the psp sort of like a portable dvd drive. And of course it also acts as an oversized mp3 player.
The key to finding games isn't going into gamestop or another video game store, it's looking online and buying online. It's cheaper, and you'll find the games that gamestop doesn't carry. (Now if they'd only come out with a version of Guild Wars for it...)
Keep in mind that I'm not telling you which to choose, it's your choice to get either a psp or a 3ds, but there's more to the psp than was mentioned. One consideration you'll want to think of is battery life system vs. system. On the psp 3000 (last umd model), with screen brightness and volume at full, it's about 2-2.5 hours. It takes forever to charge via usb, so make sure you have the power/charging unit if you pick one up.

| | | | I would go with the Nintendo 3DS simply because of the huge number of game avalaible for the DS that are really nice. On the PSP and PSPgo the problem is really the games avalaible. And on PSPgo you have to download the games ... |

Deeper games: PSP. If you get the first gen ones you can even play Super NES and NES games on it.
