I don't know about the States, or the other provinces, but here you can't smoke, well mostly, anywhere. Bars, restaurants... etc. Do you appreciate public places better with or without smoke bans ?

Yup - it's great to be able to go into any pub in London for a drink after work - without worrying about how smoky it's going to be!

Agreed, I like being able to go out at night and the next morning not having my clothes, hair and everything they touch reeking of smoke.

I'm one of those smokers who worries about my friends around me who are nonsmokers, so I feel more at ease when I go somewhere with nonsmoking friends and we're not allowed to smoke inside. It's not a horrible inconvenience for me to step outside for a few minutes if I absolutely have to (I generally don't) so I don't really mind the ban.

I like it. I frequent my local pub much more regularly with the smoking ban and generally it's a much more pleasant place to be (might also be due to the hot chicks working behind the bar too )

I personally like the fact that there's no smoke, but I am strongly against legislated smoking bans for private businesses. It should be up to the business owner to decide whether or not to allow smoking, and up to the employees whether or not they want to work there.

I think all public places are appreciable.

Appreciable, def: Possible to estimate, measure, or perceive: appreciable changes in temperature.

Appreciably ap·pre'cia·bly adv.

And I also appreciate their being smoke-free.

i smoke occasionally... it's a horrible habit and i do support smoking bans, maybe the only thing to make me quit altogether.

when i smoke, i do so away from others. i don't want to inhale your smoke, nor do i want you to inhale mine.

As a smoker, I think that its great when places aren't allowed to smell like smoke. Its an inconvenience, sure, but there's nothing particularly atrocious about it. I always prefer smoking outside, anyway.

Yes, I love going out to a show and not smelling like an ashtray when I get back. My gear smells better and my eyes don't get irritated.

I generally don't mind it, but I still think it should be up the business to decide if you can smoke inside or not. There's a local bar who basically gives the finger to the smoking ban, and is quite popular because of it.

I enjoy places more if there is no smoking. I don't advocate a ban on smoking, but something about cigarette smoke gives me migraines, so I enjoy going out more often if there is no smoking in an establishment. One thing that sucks is walking passed someone who is smoking, getting a whiff of it and getting a headache shortly afterwards. Ugh.

I agree that businesses should have more of a say in smoking policies. If I go to a bar that allows smokers and it bothers me, I'd go somewhere else. It'd be nice for there to be a well ventilated smoking section (like in the Walmart break room, there is a smoking chamber) so everyone is comfortable. I'm in Iowa and the ban becomes effective on July 1st. I don't keep up to date with the other 49 states.

I don't smoke cigarettes. I do enjoy the occasional cigar, but never really in public. It'd be nice to be able to enjoy a stick in a bar someday. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll ever see that day.

Eating at restaurant is FAR better now that there's no smoking section. The government instituted smoking bans on nearly all other workplaces and privately-owned businesses that serve the public long ago- bars and restaurants should be no exception and should have no say in what laws they should choose to follow.
