I don't know about the States, or the other provinces, but here you can't smoke, well mostly, anywhere. Bars, restaurants... etc. Do you appreciate public places better with or without smoke bans ?

It's not a horrible inconvenience for me to step outside for a few minutes if I absolutely have to (I generally don't) so I don't really mind the ban.

It should be up to the business owner to decide whether or not to allow smoking, and up to the employees whether or not they want to work there.

Appreciably ap·pre'cia·bly adv.
And I also appreciate their being smoke-free.

when i smoke, i do so away from others. i don't want to inhale your smoke, nor do i want you to inhale mine.

I don't advocate a ban on smoking, but something about cigarette smoke gives me migraines, so I enjoy going out more often if there is no smoking in an establishment. One thing that sucks is walking passed someone who is smoking, getting a whiff of it and getting a headache shortly afterwards. Ugh.

If I go to a bar that allows smokers and it bothers me, I'd go somewhere else. It'd be nice for there to be a well ventilated smoking section (like in the Walmart break room, there is a smoking chamber) so everyone is comfortable. I'm in Iowa and the ban becomes effective on July 1st. I don't keep up to date with the other 49 states.
I don't smoke cigarettes. I do enjoy the occasional cigar, but never really in public. It'd be nice to be able to enjoy a stick in a bar someday. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll ever see that day. |

The government instituted smoking bans on nearly all other workplaces and privately-owned businesses that serve the public long ago- bars and restaurants should be no exception and should have no say in what laws they should choose to follow. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
