Last night (keep in mind, this was a Sunday night) around 7:15 PM I ordered a CD rack from RacksAndStands.com. Ground shipping was free, but it seems like every time I've used ground shipping it was slow, so for the small difference I paid for three day shipping. No big deal.
Then around 8:00 PM I get a phone call from someone identifying himself as Jim Reusch, he says he's the president of a company called Woodshed, which is the manufacturer of the rack I ordered. He told me he noticed that I paid for three days shipping but added that because they're in Ohio and I'm in New Jersey, he knows shipping would only be two days via UPS ground. But because I specifically paid for three day shipping, he'd have to do that and the shipper would purposely delay it so it arrived in the time frame I paid for. He suggested calling RacksAndStands to see if I could change the shipping method so I a) get it sooner and b) save myself about $15.
I went back to the confirmation email I got to look for a phone number and saw there was a link to change the shipping status. I clicked it, went into my account, changed the order, and RacksAndStands immediately modified, credited my credit card, and sent me an updated confirmation email.
I know Woodshed is a small company, so it's not like I had the president of HP calling me about the laptop I ordered from them a few weeks ago. But this guy went out of his way on a Sunday night to make a phone call that saved a customer $15 on shipping he didn't need.
My public thanks to RacksAndStands (who I've ordered from a few times before and have had great experiences with) for having such a system in place and to Jim Reusch at The Woodshed for taking that kind of interest in serving his customers. No, I'm not affiliated with either company, I'm just a happy customer who was blown away by what happened. We all see rants about bad experiences and warnings to avoid the vendors who caused them, so I thought it was worth posting something positive about a little guy who deserves credit for going the extra mile.
