Puzzler: This would NEVER happen 50 years ago...

Sign in to disble this ad
You are standing at a bus stop. There is a well dressed gentleman standing next to you sporting a very nice and very expensive Rolex watch.

You look at your own watch to see how long a wait it will be for the bus and you find that your watch has stopped, so you ask the gentleman next to you for the correct time.

The gentleman then does something that no one in the entire world would EVER have done 50 years ago.

What does he do?

That is absolutely correct. One of the things which frustrates me about technology.

The other thing is people who talk to themselves. It's got to where I cannot tell the true nutters from people with the Bluetooth on who gve you dirty looks if you interrup their
commune with The Voices.

Yep, the watch has pretty much turned exclusively into a fashion accessory. Good riddance, says I. Never liked the things.

I do not use my cell phone for a timekeeper. I tried, but the fishing around my pockets for the time got annoying pretty fast and I went back to wearing a watch.

my favorite reply is "one of"

and to the inevitable "one of what?": "one of the reasons you should get a watch"

That would have been done in the Seventies, but only in certain parts of Los Angeles.

Now listening: Bob Marley and the Wailers 11-30-1979, Oakland Auditorium (via Wolfgang's Vault)

Being the cultivated and internationally-aware man that he can be today, he first asks you what time zone you're in.

My drummer shares your opinion. But you know what? When he wants to know what time it is, and he can't see the venue's clock, does he dig his cell phone out of his pocket to look?

Ooooooooh noooooo!

He asks his bassist to look at her watch.

Ayyyyyyup!

50 years ago he wouldn't have ignored you.

That's would he would have done now because:

1. In his mind he is to busy for you.
2. He doesn't speak a lick of your language.

Edit: Yeah, I said lick.
