so, I buy a lot of crap on ebay ...from all over the world ...constantly. For this particular transaction (not the latest, by the way) for some reason the ebay software decided to use one of the old addresses it had on file ...one which I have not used in over 3 years. Now, of course, one could argue that it's my fault for not checking the transaction details carefully ...but if you buy so much crap as I do, you only check the numbers because you have ALREADY selected your primary address and it has been in use for 3 years.
what are my options here? I contacted the buyer who of course says 'sorry, it was delivered ...this is where I get off' ...I sent a letter to the old address hoping there's someone living there and they didn't throw away the item. Or just accept that I've been ripped off of $50 by way of software errors from ebay.

The one thing that makes paypal usefull is being able to quickly print and pay for shipping labels using the customers info. I ALWAYS post reminders on our forum to UPDATE YOUR PAYPAL SHIPPING ADDRESSES |

Can you look up the number for the house in a directory or anything?

Sorry. The seller, Paypal, Ebay, isn't responsible. |

Sorry. The seller, Paypal, Ebay, isn't responsible. | you don't understand I did NOT select that address and it is NOT my primary address ...the software can't just randomly select an address from my list, it's supposed to ALWAYS use the primary unless I change it, which I did NOT. ebay/paypal is to blame here (their software, really). As to whether they will admit it or not, that's a whole other story.

-Mike | Not really, but I can't just sit back and do nothing about it on principle alone. I do not take being xxxxxx lightly.

Well if they have your old residence as a secondary, computer error or not, they are not responsible because you didn't take the old address off.

Can you look up the number for the house in a directory or anything? | Most people over here tend to take their phone number with them when they move. As long as you are in the same area code obviously.

If the return address says "former resident" followed by your name, current address, etc., they may not toss it out as junk mail. If they are an honest lot, they may forward your item to you. I would.
Just a thought.

If it is over a short term people dont tend to bother. But if you have lived in a place for say 10 years or so, then you move, people will more likely keep the number. Just down to the individuals really. If you ever want to just call up BT.

Problem is, it was a huge apartment building and the unit may very well be vacant right now If I don't hear back in a week or so I'll call the management office, maybe they kept it around.
