I have a GK Bass Amp on Craigslist and I received a response from a person who is interested. I replied that the item is still available and then he replied with this:
"I really appreciate your response to my email. I want you to consider
it sold, pls do withdraw the advert from CL to avoid disturbance,
anyways I don't have time to come over to take a look because of my
Business but you don't need to bother yourself with the shipment, I'll
take care of that by engaging the services of a mover, hence I'll be
sending a check and it will be delivered to you via United Parcel
Service, so I'll need you to provide me with the following information
to facilitate the mailing of the check.
1.full name on the check.
2.Full Physical address to post the check
3.City, State and Zip Code
4.Home & Cell Phone to contact you.
Note that the payment will be shipped to your address via UPS NEXT DAY
HAIR SERVICE and I will like you to know that you will not be
responsible for shipping i will have my mover to come over as soon as
you have cashed the check
N.B UPS does not deliver to a P.O box addresses. Thanks"
Does this seem fishy to you guys?? Also his e-mail address keeps changing by 1 number...seems very fishy
If this is in the wrong forum please forgive me and move...

Without giving out your information (NEVER DO IT!), start asking tons of questions, say you want the GK to someone who will treat it well, ask how long has he been playing, what are his biggest influences, start saying that you feel alone and you don't have friends, invent a sad story, ask if he understands you.
Never let him know that you are actually making fun of him. You don't know who the other person is, he might start spamming you or worst things. Just pretend to be really someone with no clue! |

I received a similar email by a guy named Heller Gradenko. It was a complete scam and when i googled his name, i found other people had had the same experience with this person or group. |

My very first craigslist scam was hilariously obvious...
i was trying to sell a $70 guitar case for $40.
this guy emails me and says something about how he wanted the item to sell in his store somewhere in the UK.
he was going to pay me an additional $50 for my $40 item...
he could have bought a new one for $20 cheaper than that.
I really cant believe that somebody could attempt to pull such an extremely obvious scam. |

Yes, this is a scam. Anytime you get a response that sounds automated, it's a scam, guaranteed.

I had a Hartke stack on CL for awhile, got an email just like this. knew it was a fake, so I started messing with them.
Asked for a phone number, didn't hear anything.
gave them my phone number (verizon lets you change it for free!) and told him I would not process anything until I got a call about it.
I get a response back, saying that he is deaf and cannot use the phone. So I give him my IP relay information (again, all deletable and untraceable). he comes back angry saying I need address for shipping the payments of the items and for the picking up by my shipper.
I couldn't help myself, I kept going. I asked him what he wanted and what price he was paying. thats the last I heard from him.
too bad too, he was going to pay me $1000 for it!
Also, what happens is, they take your item, pay with fake cashiers checks, you cash them, they bounce and you have to pay like $200 fine.
good scam.

It's posted at the top of every for-sale page on CL and is mentioned more than once in the pages and emails you go through when posting a listing. You have to be willfully trying not to read the "avoid being scammed" notices, not to know that it's a scam. |

I have a bass up on CL right now. I got a weird response that simply said. "Is the car still available?" CAR!? hah
I got that email twice from the same person too!
Is this just a scam to get my email add?
I didn't respond back, but was curious if this is a common thing or just another weirdo. |
