Quick laptop shootout!

Hey guys, turns out I WILL be needing AutoCAD first year, and my current laptop and computer is not able to run it.

These are my choices:

Im not sure what I should do. The Asus has the better video card but the lenovo has a slightly better CPU, DDR3 RAM which will definitely be useful in the future, and a video card that has 1 gb of video memory as well as the ability to add from your RAM (Doesn't say it but another laptop with the same video card says it, I'm not sure if its possible though.)

The Lenovo is brand new while the Asus is refurbed. The Asus also has a 7200 RPM HDD, while the Lenovo most likely sports a 5400 RPM HDD.

I'm also open to anything else that will work great for what I do, however, please try to keep it on TD, my bro can get me a discount. If not on TD, please keep it around (under preferably) 1 grand.

Thanks in advance!

I'd go for the Lenovo personally for what your doing. Plus I think it looks like a fantastic laptop! I had an IBM laptop when they were still called IBM but made by Lenovo and it was fantastic. A solid machine.

Lenovo, no way I'd touch a ASUS. If for no other reason, Lenovos Customer Service is out standing.

Here's another one: http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668231.php

some specific specs:
RAM: DDR3 4 GB
CPU: P8400
HDD: 320 GB 7200 RPM
Vijeo Card: 1GB GDDR3 Nvidia Geforce 9800m GTS
Battery: 9 cell.

Again this one's refurbished, not from TD, but from craigslist. Its sealed in the box and comes with 3 months warranty direct from gateway. He said i CAN get a extended service plan if i wanted. Though, I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to computers so I'll take good care of it.

The guy posted it for 920, but needs it gone down so HE SAID he'll do 850, me thinks I can get it down to 800 or so. What do you guys think?

Also, Hardware wise, which is the best. I don't care much for customer service points (though, I've got a T42 now and im sure lenovo is hard to beat.)

Lenovo. I've been through dozens of laptops. The last ASUS I had ran hotter than hell.

Also check out Best Buy for Business - especially if you want an XP OS.

If you're going to spend that much, I'd get this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834147923

Costs a little less than the Lenovo, and it has a faster processor, and better graphics.

BTW, no matter what you buy, make sure you get a coupon for a free upgrade to Windows 7. Vista will be old fast.

The only computer that qualify for it is the Lenovo because its New, but no worries, I dont mind using Win 7 RC 3 ( or whatever it was at before RTM).

And trooper, thats newegg.com, I should really put down Canada in my location

AutoCad?

I forgot to ask my colleagues. I'll let you know tomorrow, as I might be installing SolidWorks on my notebook to try out a particular feature where a shape is driven by an equation.

Excellent, please let me know (even regarding the 64 vs 32 bit stuff if you can). Thanks!
But as far as the notebooks here, what do you think. The lenovo seems to be the favourite.
