A quick question for you gardeners

The plant part of our carrots are about 8" high. When and how will we know when they're ready to be pulled out? We're complete noobs at gardening!

Just made a quick google search and this is what I found, "Carrots are a year round crop for your vege patch. Like beetroot, you can usually tell when carrots are ready to be pulled by the top of the root protruding through the soul. Ideally you’ll be pulling them when the exposed top is at least the width of a ten cent coin to ensure a full carrot."

Easiest way is to pull one up and see if it is big enough to suit you. It seems a bit early yet for good sized carrots, but they're cheap from your garden so go ahead and pull one up.

Wipe it off on your pants and eat it right away, dirt and all. They taste the best that way.

Unless Spencer is on the Cape, your carrots are probably not ready in early July.
As mentioned above, seeing the top of the root peeking through is a good way to tell.
They do best and get larger in sandy, loose soil.

When did you plant them? It does seem early, but who knows. I should've planted carrots...bought a pack of rainbow ones, but stuck with tomatoes, squashes, broccoli, etc.

Thanks a lot
It's going to take me a couple of months to forget how good real carrots taste compared to the orange things at the supermarket.
