R.I.P. to all victims of Madrid plane crash

You probably heard that yesterday about 153 people died after a MD-82 failed its takeoff due to a burning engine in Madrid Barajas Airport. Frightening pictures of the disaster circulated visualizing the terrible death these people went through. I just read on the newspaper the story of one of the rescue team saving a little girl out of the plane, the girl was shouting "please save my mom" who was already dead in the flames. I cannot stop thinking of her.

Air accidents happen and still is one of the safest way of transportation, but be ensured that when this happens so close to you, it makes you shiver and wondering how luck you are. I'm very frequent flyer and I hide the ghost of such a terrible possiility in the very back of my mind, but yesterday it became alive again.

RIP all the victims of this tragedy and may their families overcome this loss

Paolo

Terrible accident.

I'm a pretty frequent flyer as well as the OP. I'm not afraid of flying either, but it's a bit scary though that your life is completely in other people's hands when you're flying. I somehow succeed in suppressing that thought when I'm flying though.

I ask the Buddha for safe passage every time I fly. Can't hurt.

Terrible tragedy... hopefully each time something like this happens, some lessons are learned and flying gets that little bit safer still for others.

I'm still not afraid of flying. It's just that plane accidents make it internationally. There are still far more people that die from car crashes everyday. This is still a terrible tragedy that didn't need to happen.

With car crash fatality rates, they turn it into 79 out of 1 million people die from car crashes, making it nothing more than a statistic.

Terrible.

What pissed me off beyond words were those press ***holes who felt the urge to shove microphones under the nose of people who just lost their entire family.

'How do you feel?'

How do you think the man feels??? He just lost his son, his two daughters (one of them pregnant) and his two grandchildren. Just leave him alone!

Vultures.

Buddhism, youre doing it wrong!

What drove me mad about this is that the corporative a-holes took so much to set up psicological help, that the families werent informed properly on time, that there was so much secretism about it and so much undisclosed info that was availiable within 5 minutes of the crash...

My condolences to everyone who has lost someone on that avoidable accident.
