Before Bubba, most DE's were built like tackles but faster. Now scouts look for that tall guy that can deflect passes. In college at MSU he was truly dominant player on the same D with and played in one of the most memorable games in college history a 10-10 tie with Notre Dame in 66 for the National title. Many commentators still refer to it as the "Game of the Century" 1966 Notre Dame vs. Michigan State football game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
That MSU team also had George Webster (one of the all time great LB) and 4 of the top 8 picks in the NFL draft were from that team (Bubba was # 1 overall)
